Read the following passage carefully.
Bill believes in achieving his goal through hard work. He also
believes that if you are intelligent and know how to use your intelligence, you
can reach your goals and targets. From his early days Bill was ambitious,
competitive and intelligent. These qualities helped him to attain a great
position in the profession he chose. Also, Bill was deemed by his peers and his
teachers as the smartest kid on campus. Bill's parents came to know about their
son's intelligence and decided to enroll him in a private school known for its
intense academic environment. That was the most important decision in the life
of Bill Gates, where he was first introduced to computers. Bill Gates and his
friends were very much interested in computers and formed a 'Programmers Group
'in late 1968. Being in this group, they found a new way to apply their
computer skills in the University of Washington. In the next year, they got
their first opportunity in Information Sciences Inc in which they were selected
as programmers. Information Sciences Inc agreed to give them royalties whenever
it made money from any of the group's programs. As a result of the business
deal signed with Information Sciences Inc, the group also became a legal
business,
Upon graduating from Lakeside School, Bill enrolled in Harvard
University in 1973, one of the best universities in the country. He didn't know
what to do so he enrolled his name for pre- law.
Within a year, Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard. Then he formed
Microsoft Microsoft's vision is "A computer on every desk and Microsoft
software on every computer". Bill is a visionary person and works very
hard to achieve his vision. His belief in high intelligence and hard work has
put him where he is today. He does not believe in mere luck and God's grace,
but just hard work and competitiveness

Book
fair that began an december 2020 ended today after continiuing for 5 days. It
was visited by almost thousand people. Among them there were 200 students from
our school. The book fair was in anugrated by the Education Ministery
amazingly, There were a lot of book stalls which were decarated beautifully. It
got there a chance of comparing books of different writers published by
different publishers. There was a food corner in the fair. fired visitors could
easily get relief by resting there and eating some delicious food. The overall
arrangement was enjoyable.

11. What image does the poet use to describe the beautiful
bounty of the earth?
Ans:
The poet John Keats uses sseveral images to describe the beautiful bounty of
the earth. This beautiful bounty is like an endless fountain. This endiess
fountain of immortan drink (nectar) constantly pours from the heaven into our
hearts.
12. What did the city people complain about in the poem 'A
Roadside Stand "?
Ans:
The city folk who drove throughthe coutryside hardly paid any heed to the
roadside stand. If at all they did, it was only to complain. The following
lines bring this out.

Then out of sorts. At having the landscape marred with the artless paint.

"Of signs that with 'N' turned wrong and 'S' turned wrong.
Their
complaints was that the artless and clumsy paint on the roadside stand had
spolled the landscape. Besides, they were also irritated that even signs such

13. How was the peddler treated at the crofter's cottage?
Ans:
The peddler had been taken for a Capitain von Stahle by the ironmaster when he
had met him in the forge. So, the ironmaster had invited him to his manor house
as an old acquaintance. Both the ironmaster and his daughter had entertained
him on the Christmas Eve and the peddler was indebted to them for their
hospitality
14. Why did Gandhiji agree to a settlement of 25 percent refund
to the farmers?
Ans:
The members of the inquiry commission which was constituted to inquire into the
indigo sharecroppers situation agreed, in parinciple, to make refund to the
peasants that the landlords had illegally and deceitfully extorted from the
sharecroppers. The landlords thought Gandhi would demand in full the money due
to the sharecroppers. But Gandhi asked only 50 percent. Thinking probably that
Gandhi would not give way, the representative of the planters offered to refund
to the extent of 25 percent, and to his surprise Gandhi took him at his word.
Thus, he broke the deadlock. This settlement was adopted unanimously by the commission.
Gandhi explained that the amount of the refund was less important than the fact
that the landlords had been obliged to surrender part of the money and with it,
part of indigo their prestige.

Ans:
The landbrd's man asked Bamba's brother on which street he lived in order to
find otu his caste. During those time when untouchability was prevalent, each
caste lived in a particular street.
17. Why docs Derry's mother not want him to go back to visit Mr.
Lamb?
Ans:
Derry's mother doesn't want him to go to the old man's house. But he doesn't
like his mother's views about the old man. He tells mother that now he bothers
little about people saying about his face. He wants to help Lamb in collecting
crab apples and listen to him.

18. How did the Champaran cpisode bring social change in the
lives of peasants?
Ans:
The episode of Champaran, thus, changed the plight of the peasants. It saved
their prestige, made them bold and courageous and paved their way to
liberation. It taught them courage and made them self-reliant. Moreover, as far
as the peasants were concerned, the planters had behaved as lords about the
law. But now after this episode the peasants saw that they had rights and
defenders. As a result of this episode, within a few years the British planters
abandoned their estates, which reverted to the peasants. Indigo sharecropping
disappeared.
19. How docs Jo want the story to end and why?
Ans: Children live in their own world, a world of dreams and romance. Their world is quite different from the world of their parents. Their world is a world of beauty and charm, a sort of paradise. There is no dirt or dust or foul smell. It is a world of roses and of sweet memories. Jo wants her father to change the ending of the story. She can't see Skunk to stand alone, deserted by all. So she wants her father to tell the story in a different way. She is annoyed with Skunk's mommy who is the cause of her son's distress and pain. She wants wizard to hit Roger's mommy hard on her head with his magic wand. She wants that stupid mommy punished.-Roger Skunk is her idol. She can't imagine her hero to be so ugly and stinky. Roger's mommy is a villain in her eyes. Jo wanted the baby Skunk to smell good, so that other animals should love and play with him. In short, she wants her father Jack to change the ending of the story.
