Ans-The child was a boy. He was perfectly formed. His limp warm body was white and soft. The cord was hastily slashed. The head lolled on the thin neck. The limb seemed boneless. His whiteness showed that he suffered from 'asphyxia pallida'. It meant lack of oxygen in the blood.

Ans-The minister decided that the person who would pass the arch the next day would be the future king. Q.15 Describe Andrew Manson's efforts to save the child. How did he succeed in the end?

Ans-Andrew Manson had done many efforts to save the child. He had saved the mother and save the child. He had saved the mother and turned his attention to the child. The doctor began to search the child among the dirty newspaper below bed. He was a boy, perfectly form. The child's warm. body was white and soft. The head lolled on his thin neck. The limbs seemed boneless. It seemed that he suffered from lack of oxygen in the blood. Instantly, the doctor was on his feet.. His mind raced back to a case. He resorted to the same treatment now.

The doctor demanded hot and cold water in two basins. Like some crazy juggler, he hurried the child between the two. Fifteen minutes passed a hopeless sense of defeat presses on him. But he still persisted in one last effort. He rubbed the child with a rough towel. The pigmy chest gave a short heave. The doctor redoubled his efforts feverishly. The child finally gave a loud cry. A life was saved.

Q.16 The king in the poem is "just" and "placed". Does he carry his notion of justice a bit too far?

Ans-The king in the poem 'The tale of Melon city' is just and placid. The poem describes a unique king. He is impulsive. Sometime he looks funny and most of the times the king is ridiculous. The poet calls the king 'just' and 'placid'. He is neither of the two. His sense of justice is not based on logic and reason. He can order any person to be hanged on the slightest pretex. The king is expert in making an issue of a non-issue. The king makes a mountain out of a mole hill. He carries the things too far. He becomes the victim of his own stupidity.

Yes, the king carries his notion of justice a bit too far. This leads him to summon so many persons- all to be hanged. He lacks sound judgement. He is easily influenced and convinced. The exaggerated notion of justice invites his own death. Ultimately, he is hanged to death by his own decree.
