लेखक परिचय Alphonse Daudet (1840-1897 ) एक फ्रांसीसी उपन्यासकार एवं लघु-कथा लेखक थे । The Last Lesson कहानी फ्रांस और प्रशिया के बीच युद्ध के दिनों की है जिसमें बिस्मार्क के नेतृत्व में प्रशिया ने फ्रांस को हरा दिया था। उस जमाने का प्रशिया आज के जर्मनी, पोलैण्ड और ऑस्ट्रिया के कुछ हिस्सों से मिलकर बना था। इस कहानी में फ्रांस के अल्सास तथा लॉरेन जिले प्रशिया के अधीन हो गए हैं। यह जानने के लिए कहानी पढ़िये कि विद्यालयी जीवन पर इसका क्या प्रभाव पड़ा। Summary of the lesson : A little boy Franz was going to his school.
