Read the following passage and answer the questions that
follow. (Q. No-7, 8 & 9)
Stephen and Joseph Montgolfier were paper manufacturers
in France, but they had been interested in flying for many years. One night in
1782, Joseph noticed something that gave him an idea. He was sitting in front
of fire when he saw some picces of scorched paper floating up the chimney.
"Look at that", he said to Stephen, "the force that is lifting
that paper might be used to lift a light object too.
Soon afterwards the Montgolfier brothers started
experimenting with the idea. They tried their first experiment with a big silk
bag which was opened at the bottom. The hot air filled the silk bag, and much
to their delight, they saw it rise up in the air. Thus, they had created the
first hot air balloon.

Ans.
The poet feels that childhood is the best period of human life. The poet feels
sad at losing his childhood. He rationalizes how he comes to know about his
childhood being gone. The poet thinks that childhood is the best period of
heavenly innocence and purity of heart. Whatever the adults tell them, children
readily accept. A child is free from any sense of ego or superiority. He knows
no hypocrisy or earthly evils.
12. Comment on the author's physical
condition in Darchen?
Ans. The author's physical condition on his arrival in
Darchen was horrible. He was suffering from cold and effects of heights. He
could not sleep for a while all the night. He was taken to the medical college
of Darchen. He had a five-day course of Tibetan medicine which he started right
way. The medicine had a wonderful effect on him and he recovered soon.
