6. On the Face of It Summary of the Story : This
is a play that describes the bond of friendship between an old man and a
teenaged boy. A boy, Derry enters Mr Lamb's garden. Mr Lamb expresses pleasure
to see him. Derry has a burnt face and therefore avoids company. But Mr Lamb
encourages him to love life and people. He himself has a tin leg and assures
Derry that he enjoys people's company. Derry
loves his company. He goes back home and expresses his wish to give company to
Mr Lamb. His mother disagrees but he still comes back to Mr Lamb's garden. There
he sees Mr Lamb fallen on the ground in his attempt to get apples from trees.
He starts weeping. We are moved to see his attachment with Mr Lamb who gave him
an inspiration to love himself. (नाटक
