Nikola
Tesla was born on July 10, 1856 in Smiljan, Croatia. His mother was an inventor
and his father was a priest. His parents wanted him to become a priest like his
father, but he had a passion for studying Science. He studied Science at the
University of Prague and then started working for the Central Telephone
Exchange in Budapest.
At
the age of 28, Tesla decided to go to America in pursuit of his desire to
create new inventions. Upon moving to the United States, Tesla started working
with the famous American inventor, Thomas Edison. While working together, a disagreement
occurred between Tesla and Edison over Edison's direct current and Tesla's
alternating current. This was also known as the "war of the
currents." Edison lamps were supplied with direct current which made them
weak and inefficient. The direct current could not travel for long distances.
On the other hand, Tesla's alternating current was able to travel long
distances on distribution lines, first in one direction, and then in another in
multiple waves.
Tesla
left Edison to create his own company called the Tesla Electric Light Company.
His work caught the attention of another American inventor, George
Westinghouse. They joined hands and started working together to generate
electricity for the nation. Edison and Tesla were now in direct competition for
providing America with energy and power. In 1893, Tesla's AC electrical system
was selected over Edison's at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago.
Westinghouse ran into financial trouble and Tesla had to walk out of the
partnership by selling his patent.
You
would be surprised to know that Tesla had over 800 different patents to his
name, and despite that he was penniless. It is absolutely ironical that the man
who invented the modern world died a pauper in a lonely hotel room on January
7, 1943 at the age of 86.

people can also remove it from our country. We should not give bribery and we

In the story we find Taplow was very critical against Mr Crocker Harris. In his
anger against his teacher, he calls that Mr Crocker Harris was "hardly
human". It was because the teacher did not pay any attention to the
feelings of the students all he cared was about the school discipline.
13. What is a Tibetan Mastiff? Why was the narrator fascinated
by the awesome Tibetan mastiffs?
Ans:
Tibetan Mastiff is a large species of dog, When the author sees the Tibetan
mastiff, he feels fascinated, it was because he saw the dog which was very
large and powerful. This species of dog is generally used to protect the herd
of animals and sometimes even the farm.

18. Who was Andrew's girlfriend? Why was he sceptical about
relationships?
Ans:
While doctor Andrew was waiting for the right time to deliver the baby he was
lost in the thought of his personal life,love affair and marriage. He loved a
girl named Christine. He could see her eyes shining towards him, admitted no
other conclusion ,it was a conflict between his level doubting mind and his
overflowing heart which left him resentful and confused. He let his chin sink
upon his chest stressed out his legs and started brooding into the fire he
remained like that for a long time and his thoughts were so filled with
Christine.
Andrew
wished to consider marriage an idyllic state. His wish didn't materialise in
his real life. In his friendly circle, he had so many examples of failed
married life. In his personal life also his affair had failed and couldn't
reach even to the border of marriage. This made him sceptical about
relationships.
19. What is the Green Movement? What are its aims?
Ans:
Green movement is a movement initiated by New Zealand along with other
countries. The purpose of this moment is to protect our planet, the earth.
The
aim of this movement is broadly to maintain and ecological balance all around
the world. Here it is believed that the entire planet is a living being and
which is getting diseased because of the human beings. They try to create an
awareness among the people that we all should try to keep our planet healthy by
stopping deforestation, controlling pollutions of all type and respecting the
lives of every living thing on the planet.
The
people need to understand that instead of running a blind race of development
we should focus upon sustainable development. The green movement wants us to
understand the need to use the alternet source of energy other than fossil
fuels which create pollution. Overall, the aim of the gresn rovement is to make

हमारे इलाके के साथ-साथ शहर के विभिन्न हिस्सों में घूमते हैं। यह दृश्य पूरे देश
में देखा जा सकता है। आवारा कुत्तों के साथ लोग बुरा बर्ताव करते हैं और उन्हें
खिलौना भी माना जाता है। कुत्तों की आबादी बढ़ रही है इसीलिए कुछ समय भूख और
दुर्घटना के कारण उनके मृत शरीर को देखा जा सकता है। हमें उन्हें विशेष रूप से
