Mourad steals a beautiful white horse from a farmer John Byro. They ride it early in the morning and hide it in the barn of a deserted vineyard. One day John Byro catches them with his horse Wazir but since he is well aware of their tribe's reputation of honesty, he assumes that the horse was the twin of his horse. John Byro visits Aram's house and moans about his lost horse and the useless surrey without the horse. Next morning the boys quietly return the horse to John Byro's farm. John Byro visits Aram's house again and expresses his astonishment that now his horse was better in temper and healthier than before.

3. Describe the character of Mourad.

Ans. Mourad was a young boy of 13 years who belonged to the Garoghlanian tribe of Armenia living in San Joaquin Valley of California. He was a street smart fellow and a daredevil, who was not afraid of taking risks for adventures. He loved animals and birds and had his own sweet "way" with them. He convinced Aram to join him in riding a stolen horse, whom he had almost tamed. He nursed a Robin's broken wing, which helped it to fly away. When he finally took the horse to John Byro's vineyard, the dogs followed around without making a sound. He was considered to be one of the craziest member of his family.
